Greetings from the World of Film, here in Atlanta, Georgia.

The idea of a blog emerged at my brothers' suggestion. Thank you Harold D Watson and Bruce C Carr.

There is something quite exciting walking into the oldest theater in Atlanta, and rubbing shoulders with all the people engaged in the film.  The Plaza Theatre.   https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjA-vuJqfjLAhXFdD4KHdPdBQkQFggeMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fplazaatlanta.com%2F&usg=AFQjCNHkO9E0wn3I5okacy5hfdJIKqjTCw&sig2=bnK58xUTS0-KfVKlssg1bg

I am the scribe of our experiences, Sandra fw Beaty, attending the festival with a combination of friends: Nancy, Yvette, Phyllis, John.   We are middle age professionals profoundly curious about life and expanding our personal knowledge.

Simple objective:  See as many films as possible.
Review all the film options and plan a schedule. 2 or 3 or 4 films a day. ..or maybe only 1.  No pressure.

We purposely choose films with the cue "talent in attendance".   This indicates that the director, editor, videographer, actors, screen writer, et al, will move up front after their film, talk about their work and encourage the audience to ask questions.  It's so insightful.  Some films shock us, disturb us, surprise us, yet all of them teach us about humanity..  Film is such an engaging media.

Now on to the films we've seen.

Our first one!

WOOL  Other Wordly fibers    85 minute collection of 6 short films.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5078408/    GWilliam     a horror movie

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4815884/    La Fabbricazione   a horror movie

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3685048/   Zelos   sci fi      of all this held us calmly in interest

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4018686/   Carnal Orient    oh my... another horror movie

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4372422/  The Quantified Self      a sci fi      (we waited next to the twin girls from the movie and entered the theatre together)  It was all up front and close.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4671082/   Boniato    horror, supernatural

Synopsis:  We were aghast with much blood, killing, bizarre events, disturbing story line.  However, in fairness to the talent demonstrated in this film grouping, each piece held us in our seats, was executed (pardon the pun) with creative camera skill, special effects, informative script where there was relevance, and the actors were very good. Casting did an overall great job with these matches. We however, had no idea the film genre was horror/scifi and quite unsettling.  Had we used the ImDB web site prior we would have chosen another grouping.  Yet, we now have insight into the popular ghoulish and horror component so strong in the movie industry within our society. We gained insight into a passion that drives film makers to build a story line underneath the visible gore and bizarre plots.  The shock factor was powerful to us. Experience is a teacher.   Now we know.

Taking a break from the blog.  2 more movies tonight.  hugs, s
